Resources to Guide Common Core Implementation
The American Assoication of School Librarians (AASL) developed a compelling, complete, and carefully crafted set of standards that outline 21st Century Skills. They have taken their standards one step further and developed crosswalks that show where and how 21st Century Skills relate to the Common Core Standards at each grade level. In addition, they have a database of lesson plans that illustrate how to put 21st Century Skills and the Common Core Standards into practice.
These crosswalks help set the “content” and “practices” (some of which defined in the Common Core) that occur in English and Social Studies/History classrooms alongside 21st Century Skills, providing ideas for a multitude of relevant and engaging classroom experiences.
