Resources to Guide Common Core Implementation

EngageNY-Curriculum Exemplars and Common Core Video Series

From their website:

Welcome to EngageNY – your one-stop shop for resources related to New York’s Race to the Top reforms.

This page was designed specifically with teachers in mind. Use it to share resources and get information and help implementing New York’s Common Core standards and the other tenets of the Regents Reform Agenda.”

The strength of the EngageNY website is that it provides a step by step plan with resources tied to each step.  Here is the link to the five step plan and a bullet list of them below:

1.  Get the Big Picture

2.  Understand the New Standards

3.  Identify the Key Shifts

4.  Learn and Collaborate

5.  Get Practical (curriculum exemplars)

For those who have worked through steps one through three, step four and five is where NY provides unique resources.  The “Learn and Collaborate” link provides a structure for viewing their common core video series and helps ground these video resources in practical, tangible products/outcomes.  The “Get Practical” provides curriculum exemplars, which everyone is interested in seeing what might a common core influenced curriculum look like.  In the photo gallery below are some screenshots of what you will see when you click over to the provided exemplars and video list.
